Significant avalanche danger on Nordenskiöld Land

The Governor has recently received reports of several avalanche incidents in the areas around Longyearbyen, including in popular areas such as Fardalen, Mälardalen, and at Fritham in Todalen.

We remind you that the avalanche warning for Nordenskiöld Land is at danger level 3 according to varsom.no, which means a significant risk of avalanches in the region. Danger level 3 is an indication that there are generally unstable conditions in the region, where avalanches are possible even with small additional loads, such as skiing and snowmobiling.
