The Governor reminds that all dogs in Svalbard must be on a leash from 15 May to 15 August.

Bird flu detected in walrus and polar bear on Svalbard

The Norwegian Veterinary Institute has detected highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N5) in a polar bear and a walrus on Svalbard.

Snowmobiles prohibited on bare ground

The Governor has received reports of snowmobiles being driven on bare ground in Adventdalen, which is prohibited. It is to be expected that inspections will be carried out in the area in the future.

A European airline has been fined NOK 200,000 for failing to report on the flight's passengers. The fine has been accepted.
