High avalanche risk on Monday in the eastern region
NVE reports that a high avalanche risk is expected on Monday, January 27th - danger level 4 - in the eastern Svalbard region. There is no increased avalanche risk in Longyearbyen itself according to the avalanche forecast from Skred AS.

Strong winds and large amounts of precipitation will cause a high avalanche risk in the eastern region of Svalbard. Very large naturally triggered avalanches are expected, reports NVE on Varsom.no. Danger level 4 has been warned for the eastern region until Wednesday 29 January.
Today's avalanche forecast from Skred AS for Longyearbyen has a low hit probability (green).
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute reports that it will blow strongly from the east and that the wind may reach a small storm in exposed places. There will also be a small addition of snow this week, and the temperature will be between 0 and -5 degrees.
